Going To A Display Of Realistic Baby Dolls And Board Games Along With My Wife And Kids

I took my family on a family outing today to a museum of childhood and toys. My wife is into dolls, especially realistic baby dolls, as she has been a collector for a long time. She informed me that there was going to be a show of realistic baby dolls at this museum, so we decided we might take a look.

When we arrived, we immediately saw that this was a very big exhibition into the lifes and cultures of youngsters over the last a hundred and fifty years or more. There was one specific display that made me saw how tough a life children had back in the late 1800's.

It was showing you the tough circumstances that they had in their job and also the hours they were required to work.

One of the examples was chimney sweeping. Children at approximately 6 years of age was doing that job, with no safety tools and was exposed to obvious lung problems. Accidents and tragedy was frequent its sad to say. The days have been long too, with kids working so long as thirteen hours a day in factories with only one quick break. How the quality of life has changed in the hundred or so years for the worlds children.

Further into the show, there was an enormous array of toys from the past, right up to the present. A few of these toys reminded me of my childhood, as one or two of the items on display I remember owning, and ranging from toy trains and tricycles, right up to among the common branded board games we can still see today.

It was not only a fun time out for all of the family. My wife had the chance to see her realistic baby dolls, and a big selection of dolls there was. This outing was certainly an eye opener and more crucially, a reminder that life was not as simple for children as it could have been back in those tough hard, lengthy working days 100 or so years ago.
